Islamic burials are also possible in German cemeteries.
The recent reform of the burial law increasingly allows us Muslims to conduct funerals according to the rites of our faith in Germany. This represents a great relief for the Muslim community. Nearly all cities and municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia now offer Muslim burial options – even without a coffin.
Islamic burial without a coffin is also a matter of great importance to us. Our trained staff conduct this ritual burial with the utmost care and sensitivity. In this form of burial, the deceased is placed directly into the grave. One or two people carefully descend into the grave and lay the deceased on their right side – according to Islamic tradition. The body is then covered with wooden grave slabs to prevent direct contact with the earth. Afterward, the grave is filled in, and our Imam recites the traditional prayers.

Why are these documents needed?
The documents are required for the registry office in order to obtain the death certificates. Without death certificates, burial or repatriation is not possible. The death certificate is also required afterwards for deregistration, inheritance matters, pension claims, etc.
